No Respect For Library Property!

>> Thursday, January 31, 2008

Why can't people have more respect for library property?!? I get so annoyed when I borrow audio books on CDs and find myself having to majorly clean off caked on finger prints from each and every one! Some people have no respect for other peoples property. Or maybe that's how they handle their own things too. Even my 4 and 6 year olds know how to properly handle CDs and DVDs. Come on people, get a clue!

Weight Loss Wednesday

>> Wednesday, January 30, 2008

I almost forgot to post my progress today, on Weight Loss Wednesday. I lost a pound this week, but I'm not sure how. If I had to guess, I would say it's just a result of drinking my 8 glasses of water every day. Just that new habit alone seems to have made a world of difference. We'll see how the next week goes.

WFMW

I guess I should have used my first post, "Love My Studded Snow Tires For My Feet", as my WFMW post. I bought these "STABILicers" last year after we had an ice storm. My timing was all off. I didn't need to use them until this morning. They were simple to slip (no pun intended) over my shoes to keep ME from slipping on the ice. Being from Hawai'i, all this outdoor ice stuff is new to me.

Love My Studded Snow Tires For My Feet!

The roads were icy this morning, we found out as we walked skated to the bus stop. My feet barely came an inch off the ground. When we reached the bus stop, without a single fall, we found out that school was starting late, so we skated back home.

Two hours later, we ventured back to the bus stop, but this time I was well equipped with my “STABILicers”. They’re studded snow tires for my feet that worked like a charm. Of course, when we hit the first sheet of ice I had to test them out before confidently trudging along. I’m so happy that I bought them last year, just in case.

Snow Day Creation

>> Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Yesterday morning we woke up to a couple inches of snow that had fallen while we slept. J and K were excited to go out and play in the white powder. As soon as they were done with breakfast, they were getting in their snow gear and headed out the door. I filled a couple of condiment bottles with colored water so that they could make snow art. This is what they came up with. It looks like a mountain of shave ice. If you've ever been to Hawaii, you know what I'm talking about. I think the rest of the country calls it "snow cones". So that's another snow day for the school year. I wonder if that's the end of them, or just the beginning?

Waiting For Hot Water

>> Sunday, January 27, 2008

Right now I'd rather be in bed, but since my boys used all the hot water for their bath I'll have to wait awhile. It seems that when you take a bath and don't pull the little silver thingy to stop the water from draining you use more hot water than normal. So here I am, blogging away while waiting for more hot water so that I can take a shower and hit the sheets.

I Must Be A Moron

My boys are now 6 and 4 1/2 and this morning my husband, let's call him H, tells me that K was coughing last night. I already knew this because despite his snoring, I could hear K coughing with my own 2 ears. I'm thinking of taking both boys to the doctor tomorrow because their allergy meds don't seem to be working. So H says, "You'd better keep K at home today". I, not so politely, replied by reminding him that I've been raising these boys for 6 years now and I'm perfectly capable of making that judgment call. Then, no more than 5 minutes later, J comes downstairs after getting changed and cleaned up. H says, "You'd better make sure the boys wash their hair tonight". I looked at J and knew that H was referring to J's wet hair. H thought it was grease. Again, I've been raising these boys for 6 years now and I would know if either one of them were in desperate need of a hair wash, but I wouldn't wait that long. I guess I'm just a moron.

Spilled Juice and Soggy Fries

>> Saturday, January 26, 2008

It's lunch time on the home front so I baked chicken nuggets and fries for my two boys, J (age 6) and K (age 4 1/2). I make their plates and sit them at the table then proceed to warm up my lunch. Now we're sitting at the table and J walks to the fridge to get a Danimal. While this is going on my husband calls on the phone. I get up to answer the phone, and in a split second J gives K his cup of pink lemonade that was in the fridge, and K manages to spill the juice not only on his plate of fries and nuggets, but also on his brother's plate of fries. I rescued whatever fries and nuggets were salvageable, which wasn't much, and mopped up the wet, sticky juice from the table. So who's to blame for this mayhem? The way I see it, if J hadn't given K the cup of juice in the first place then there wouldn't have been any juice to spill. On the other hand, if my husband hadn't called at the precise moment that K was about to spill his juice, then I would've still been sitting at the table and would have foreseen (with my Mommy instincts) what was about to happen ahead of time. Oh well, no sense in crying over spilled juice, it doesn't change anything. This is why God invented cups with lids.

Life Notes

>> Wednesday, January 23, 2008

No, I'm not a journalist, not even close. I just wanted to get on the blogging band wagon and have a place to voice my opinions or vent without being chastised. Basically, I'm having a conversation with myself. And if anyone out there in the blog world is reading this, I'll also be posting my life notes if anything worthy of blogging comes up.
